EBS Tournament - 2004

Season recap

Five Division I-A teams finished the 2004 regular season undefeated. S. California and Oklahoma, led by Heisman winners Matt Leinart (2004) and Jason White (2003), started the season as #1 and #2 and finished in those same spots. Auburn was preseason #17, but climbed to #3 after winning the SEC. Urban Meyer's Utah squad won the MWC and beat 3 BCS opponents along the way. Boise St. finished undefeated as WAC champion.

Texas, whose lone loss was to #2 Oklahoma, finished just ahead of QB Aaron Rodgers's California team, who also had 1 loss (to #1 S. California). Louisville, under coach Bobby Petrino, was C-USA champion and lost only to then-#3 Miami (FL).
