EBS Tournament - 2005

Season recap

Pre-season #1 S. California and #2 Texas finished in those positions during their undefeated regular seasons. Both teams were filled with star players, such as S. California's Matt Leinart & Reggie Bush and Texas's Vince Young. During the season, S. California won a last-second victory at Notre Dame and beat Pac-10 runner-up Oregon; Texas topped Ohio St. in an early season contest and recorded the largest-ever margin of victory in a Big 12 championship game (a 70-3 win over Colorado).

Penn St., with QB Michael Robinson and LB Paul Posluszny, finished their season with only one loss (to Ohio St.) Florida St., after beating Miami 10-7 in the opening week of the season, held off Virginia Tech in the ACC title game.
