EBS Tournament - 2006
Season recap
Heisman winner Troy Smith led his Ohio St. to an undefeated season, including a victory over then-#2
Michigan in those teams' final game of the year. Florida lept over Michigan for the #2 spot
in the final rankings after then-#2 S. California lost in their final game to UCLA. Louisville
won the Big East by losing only 1 game, a Thursday-night thriller at Rutgers.
The season's surprise team was Boise St. With QB Jared Zabransky and RB Ian Johnson, first-year head coach Chris Peterson
guided the Broncos to an undefeated season and #8 end of season ranking. Another surprise team, Wake Forest,
won their first conference title in 36 years.
