EBS Tournament - 2007

Season recap

Dubbed to be the Year of the Upset, 2007 ushered a level of parity previously unknown in college football as 13 unranked teams defeated top 5 teams during the regular season. In the end, Ohio St.'s November loss to Illinois did not prevent the Buckeyes from finishing a second straight season in the #1 position. LSU, with DT Glenn Dorsey, ended #2 despite two losses. Other 2-loss teams were pre-season #1 S. California, Georgia, Missouri (both losses were to Oklahoma), Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. Kansas finished with only 1 loss (as did BYU), and Hawai'i was the FBS's lone undefeated team.

In a season where 3 times we saw the AP's #1 and #2 teams both lose on the same weekend (including twice in the last three weeks of the season), the answer to "Who is the 'best team?" changed continually throughout the season.
